The Trailing Edge Community Garden will play an important role in in building sustainable local food systems, providing access to fresh, healthy and nutritious food in Kanata north.

Community Gardens yield more than just fresh fruits and vegetables: they build friendships, provide recreation and promote physical activity while they also foster civic pride and unity amongst neighbours. The garden is located on NCC land, which allows interested gardeners the opportunity to add a short bike ride or leisurely stroll to their gardening experience. Send us a message using the contact form below if you would like a plot.  Memberships are $70 for a full plot and $40 for a half plot. The Garden season begins the weekend of May 5 and 6, 2018 and ends in mid-November (weather dependent). Benefits

FEED A FAMILY OF FOUR

With 400 sqft an active gardener should be able to grow enough vegatables to feed a typical family.

AFFORDABLY PRICED

At $40/$70 for a season (depending on size of plot) it is an economical way to grow $600 -$1,000 of food.

CONVENIENTLY LOCATED

Situated on the NCC land, and a main bus route make the site the most accessible location for most people.

ZEN EXPERIENCE

Gardening is a very peaceful activity that is proven to reduce stress. If that doesn’t cut it for you, take a break and watch the baby goats instead.

PLANT HARD-TO-FIND FOOD ITEMS

While there are some limits on what food item can be planted, we gladly encourage a variety of non-perennial foods to be planted.

SUPPORT THE KANATA FOOD CUPBOARD

Plant a row in your plot for the food cupboard.
